Morning Dew

"Morning Dew", also known as "(Walk Me Out in the) Morning Dew", is a contemporary folk song by Canadian singer-songwriter Bonnie Dobson. The lyrics relate a fictional conversation in a post-nuclear holocaust world. Originally recorded live as a solo performance, Dobson's vocal is accompanied by her finger-picked acoustic guitar playing. In 1962, "Morning Dew" was included on the live Bonnie Dobson at Folk City album. Subsequently, the song was recorded by other contemporary folk and rock musicians, including the Grateful Dead, who adapted it using an electric rock-ensemble arrangement for their debut album. more »

Hey, it's nice to meet you, what's your name
'Cause mine is fear of missing out, I'm anxious every day
Been thinking 'bout you, I'm Frank Ocean blue
With a Glenn Miller mood, and I'm lost in your view
Feeling way too timid, bad at these decisions
Broken television, channels always flipping
Help me out won't you

'Cause I'm a, a busy life, early night type of
Live in fright always shy type of guy
But you so different, live in different visions
You been 3D, I'm still stuck in two dimensions ooh
You're like a breath of fresh air
The breeze in my hair
Could never compare 'cause
We're like Romeo and Juliet
But you don't know it yet

'Cause I'm a busy guy we got busy lives and I'm
Over shy when I say goodbye so I
Gotta say what's been on my brain
If it kills me I'll try

Do you wanna grab coffee with me
We can walk down the street
As we talk about our dreams
And you tell me the things that I've always imagined
I can't even fathom our future together
If I could just talk to you

'Cause I just wanna
Say hello and get to know you better
Whether weather's clear or cloudy rain whatever
Never mind if signs align or stars will
Light the sky and guide our minds in time to find each other
This ain't a game but still I'm feeling played
This ain't a race but I'm in last place
It's like a firepit without a flame,
Kid without a name

'Cause I'm thinking that something could just happen with it
I'm in it I'm livin' I'm stuck in your memory like it's this triplet
Your interest has tinted my vision pretending that it's something different
I know that it isn't, but maybe if you would just listen
And see what I'm givin' you'd get it but no
'Cause I'm way too scared
And you won't wait there for long, yeah
Woah

'Cause I'm a busy guy we got busy lives and I'm
Over shy when I say goodbye so I
Gotta say what's been on my brain
If it kills me I'll try

Do you wanna grab coffee with me
We can walk down the street
As we talk about our dreams
And you tell me the things that I've always imagined
I can't even fathom our future together
If I could just talk to you

If I could just
Talk
