This probably the hardest thing
I’ve ever wrote
I love you boy
What up block I miss you king
And I just wanna see your face
I’m trying to hold it together
So I can celebrate your birthday
November 27th 1984
11 months later here I come
Showing up knocking at the door
Sorry if I stole your moment
Or if I got in the way
Crazy we not even twins
But I ain’t never missed a bday
But that was mom and dad’s fault
They was rushing I dunno why
Mama probably laughing
She gonna call like boy bye
But growing up mann
We was closer than close
We love to brag and boost
Blane boys doing the most
Backyard basketball battles
It was war just you and me
Until pops came out talking play me to three
Pop was six one with a jumper
He would kill us we didn’t care
It was moments all together
That we loved to share
Fishing trips to port Lavaca
Pops and his boys we stayed happy
And we didn’t even care
As long as we was with daddy
We had the best parents they
Worked hard and gave us the world though
Be good and love each other
Is something they had let us know
Remember when them consoles dropped
We got em both
Mom and pops with the Sega
Aunt penny with the Nintendo
That look on our face we was all the way live
What yall know about that
Bill walsh college football 95
Our relationship was crazy but I loved it
We was so competitive and we fought even in public
Remember we use to put on
Hoop tournaments in the front yard
The whole hood would show up
Dem 11 boys going hard
Mom and dad at work all day
But we didn’t need no sitter
Grandma ruby next door and she loved to hang with us
She showed us how to cook
And pick them collard greens
She even let us sip that wine
And it would put us to sleep
Some weekends we go to Austin
See grandma D and the crew
Hang with Shauntae
And play fight with uncle coop
Grandma D death hit us hard
They had to walk us out
That was the first time
We got a taste of what death was about
Then the best thing happened September 1996
Baby bro Taylor was born and added to the mix
The kid was amazing and so much more
Practicing wrestling moves on
A toddler on the kitchen floor
We use to punch him in his chest
Like you bet not make a sound
It’s all good mama Don't trip that’s why he tuff now
Blane party of six we held it down
Then Monika gave us Daysia and Tati
Guess what we big uncles now
And we can’t forget about Twane
And Jay we loved big cuz
He let us ride in the mustang
He always spoiled us
He gave us them two 12s
Them thangs use to knock
We was in the mini van
And we was beating up the block
Mickey D’s or car wash
Them summer jobs we had to work
And every Sunday we got
Fresh and went to church
Sis Lewis and Erika kept us on point with the drums
We went everywhere like oh oh
Here comes pastor blane sons
Lightskin preacher kids with the good hair
We couldn’t lose
Letters from the same girls
They didn’t how to pick or choose
On the phone sweet talking to girls all night
We tricked mom into buying that clear phone
So when it rang we saw the light
And if we didn’t answer
That voicemail was the truth
You reached them Blane boys
Now you know what to do
Life passed us so quick
Good days mixed with bad luck
You was cutting hair and me
Well I started to drive trucks
Then that moment came when you got cancer
Shook us to the core
How could this happen you was like 23 or 24
But we all prayed and you had this look in your eye
You told me to roll one up
Bro everything gonna be alright
You beat it man you was cancer free
You was my superman
But you told me lil bro
I’ll never go through that again
We kept living I joined the army and I dipped
But you traveled the world with me
No matter where I went
Fast forward eleven years later
And here we are
You made you peace with God
But big bro you left a scar
You could’ve fought and won dawg
And still been here with me
You made you peace so
Half of me is cool the other half empty
I’m dropping tears again king
Man this killing me
My girls miss their uncle tu
And you aint meet trinity.
Mom and dad holding it together
They hurt but they kinda tuff
Monika watched them last days
You tore big sister up
I’d give anything to get you and just go fishing
Oh yeah and Taylor got married
But I know you ain't miss it
You watching our every move
I know you close by
I’m gonna be okay but I’m gonna forever ask why
I put you on my wall so everyday
I see that smile on your face
Happy birthday big bro
Make sure you meet me at the gate
Man
Happy Birthday Big bro yeah
Just make sure you meet me at the gate
