I saw my first bar fight at the age fourteen
One guys got stabbed but the knife went in clean
And some poor fella got a cue broke across his back

Things ain't changed in this crazy old world
The same ruckus scene continues unfurls
At almost any beer joint on Saturday night in Texas

As years went by I learned to stand aside
Of people with demons and fear in their eyes
But from time to time I couldn't step far enough

A flying fist here and a beer bottle there
The nights full of obstacles to be aware of
As the owner gets his gun and the bouncers stuff to get rough

It's the same routine nearly ever night on the road
The girls always pretty and the beer on taps ice cold
We get a little liquored up, play some music and search for the truth
With the Lord on our back we're six foot and bulletproof

Now they're shipping us off to some foreign country
Where I can't pronounce the names of the things that I eat
And the people I meet sometimes make me feel all alone
I'll do all I can in this foreign land to ensure freedom 
And make the righteous man stand tall, And put a smile on my family back home

Cause life's the same no matter where you go
Injustice, hatred and intolerance flow
And the rich are still rich and us poor boys are still poor

I admit I don't always know what's right
But I know I still get left in me plenty of fight
I'll turn my passion to freedom and make the flag of liberty soar
