I keep talking and talking and now I’m all hoarse
Have I run out of good things to say?
Just a needle awash in the hay
Beneath the neon do I still feel alive?
Can I feel my pulse thump in my skin?
Swallowed up by the heat and the din
I keep walking and walking and now I am tired
So I idle and watch from afar
People trying to be who they are.
Running in circles without any clues
I’m a creature of habit at best
Who lives for the noise in her chest
Maybe it’s August or maybe it’s me
But the air’s hanging stale in my chest
I’m a sputtering gutter piled high in the day
By the night I am fey and compressed
Longing for simple hours
Where my thoughts can coalesce
Down on a street so dispossessed
Noble gas lights up this little empire
It's no wonder we all feel so small
And perspective can make our skin crawl
I am and lost in a world that’s impossibly large
I am scared I’m a drop in the sea
