I take my shoes off to feel the grass
Different footprints than the past
Same place but different eyes

And the drops they fall calmly way behind
Whispering my steps will never be confined

Cutting through paths I've seen
But now my roots lie deep within
The old voices keep echoing in my mind

I've crossed the line too many times
Only to realize that grows wider each time
This ecotone gets bigger every step I take
Teaching me how to float above this lake

The wind will forever blow away
The clouds above my maze
Yet no eternal sunshine will forever blaze
But the trees, still rooted deep in the soil
