The easy, fast & fun way to learn how to sing: 30DaySinger.com

All of us experience hardships at some point in life
How we react affects whether we overcome it, or better yet, how long we suffer
End of December last year couldn't have told me different
That this one here wouldn't be the premiere of my redemption (Why's that)
Series of unfortunate events
Lemony Snicket, we were hit, left us bitter, mentally finished
Energy missing, physically sickening, so remedy quicken
The book's presenting my fam as penalty stricken (Look)
I wish it was fiction, us trippin', serenity's distant
Need to cricket afflictions like Kim Wexler whenever Jimmy was slipping (Saul Goodman)
So mention 20-19, I call it barely legal
Lost both of my grandmamas, and totaled two vehicles, within a week of each other
The second literally occurring the way home from replacin' the first at the Infiti
Dealership, swear I can't deal with this shhhhhh
Hit and Run, GTA, still bent out of shape they got away with it
I gave chase a bit, but pumped the brakes and quit 'cause something told me
"Live to fight another day E.Quipped, just be okay with it" (Dag)
Tongue I'm biting 'cause 3 months earlier lighting hit my house
Left 10 thousand in damage and a hole above where my kids sleep at night
And now my youngest she frightened by every dark cloud and gust of wind
But she might be on to something ('cause this is crazy)
It's no masquerade
This could be your last today
So learn to find the sunshine through overcast and rain
Lettin' your guard and mask down, that's a shame
Think it's hard to breath now? Just think about the ones that passed away
Needless to say, that reachin' the day
We'd ring in the new would be reason to celebrate, but we were clueless
'Cause waitin' on that ball to drop, boy did it
More like Raiders of the Lost Ark's giant boulder deployed in its' place
Didn't think anticipating tables to turn would be like dining rooms in an earthquake
But when I learned my grandma was taken for ride and signed over inheritance
To a guy she'd met the final years of her life
Inspired me and my wife to get our wills drawn up
Same year the world said bye to a Black Panther and Mamba (Kobe)
My son gets robbed of a couple hundred
A/C stops for the fourth time in 24 months, then
2020's Jussie Smollet 'cause we ain't trying believe
Corona's for something other than limes and finding our beach
It's spine-tingling that in a time all answers are in the form of questions we lost Trebek
And the whole world's in Jeopardy
It's no masquerade
This could be your last today
So learn to find the sunshine through overcast and rain
Lettin' your guard and mask down? That's a shame
Either keep 6 feet between us now or underground when in the grave
I never knew what I was wishing
They talkin' perfect vision, I just yearned an upgrade from my current position
And not the update I heard from my kid
Sent home from work early 'cause they were hurting for business
Went and spent his day hooping and had a freak accident
That got me asking who's proctoring the litmus (test)
Test of my responses to the nonsense, doc reconstructing my son's knee
Just so he can stand on his own two feet some day in the future
By the way, a week later inside of my oven blew up (yeah, that actually happened)
Succeeded by my shoulder following suit
Rotator cuff, multiple tears, so I had surgery too
This sucks, and it's not fair, was the mood, my position
So I got stuck there and moving in to November
Things being up in the air got a new definition
'Cause that's exactly from where I breathed it into my system (Corona Virus)
Showed me what it really meant to have hell to pay
I went from FML to needing FMLA
5 day hospital stay, oxygen tanks
While antibiotics, steroids and plasma's being shot in my veins (Dang)
And all that downtime I had to stop and to think allowed me
To wrap my mind around a lot of the things that I had been through
And they were just that
Situations God had brought me through instead of being left there trapped
I got let out the infirmary a Covid-19 survivor the day of my wife and I's 19th anniversary (Can't make this stuff up)
I'm so thankful 'cause for so many going home means the bell tolled
Rest in peace Shad and Brodie Lee
No, it's not a masquerade
So know that every last thing
I spoke out of my mouth on this track actually happened to me
But don't cancel the parade
Just go have it in the rain
And know, no matter how grave that this too shall pass away
No, it's not a masquerade
Let's go, time to rattle the cage
Expose all the insanity
And finally keep it cast away
Broke, I packed it just in case
But won't need it for the vacay
So I'll burn the luggage and further publish the victory
