John McArdle

John McArdle (born 16 August 1949) is an English actor. He is most notable for playing Billy Corkhill in the soap opera Brookside, with many other smaller appearances in other soaps and dramas. Playing a regular character in Brookside's heyday (alongside Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston, and working with writers such as Jimmy McGovern), he burned himself into the viewers' memories with his portrayal of a man beyond breaking point, which culminated with him ranting at neighbours and churning up their lawns, as he drove his car around in circles. John was the subject of This Is Your Life in 2003 when he was surprised by Michael Aspel on the set of Merseybeat. In 2006, he portrayed Frank Taylor in the BBC's Surviving Disasters, about the Munich air disaster of 19… more »

Fine, it's alright, every second, every day and
Every night, go outside, take a hike and clear your mind cause
It's just fine, it's alright, give the good thoughts all your time and
Just unwind, it's alright. Everything will be just fine

Maybe I don't wanna go back to school
Maybe I don't know what I wanna do
Maybe I just wanna play my guitar
Maybe I know that won't get me too far

And that's just fine, it's alright, go to work and make sure you clock
In on time, hit the grind, waste away your whole damn life and
Numb your mind, then you'll find, it's alright except for now you're
Thirty-five. Where's the time? You said everything was fine

Maybe I don't want to get out of bed
Conflicting thoughts always filling my head
Maybe I face every new day with dread
Sometimes I think that I'm better off dead

And that's just fine, you have time, go to college right away on
Borrowed dimes. Make no cents, you have rent to pay so clock some
Overtime. Corporate climb, suck some dick and maybe you'll move
Up the line. Lose your mind. Everything is always fine

I hate my life, I know why, I won't fix it
I won't try, I'll survive, it's alright
I'm still going in good stride
Where's my pride? I don't know
I got this feeling deep inside, I'm alone
So I'll cry, in my home

Fine, it's alright, every second, every day and
Every night, go outside, take a hike and clear your mind cause
It's just fine, it's alright, give the good thoughts all your time and
Just unwind. It's alright, I know you might want to die
But that's just fine. It's alright, go to work and make sure you clock
In on time, hit the grind, waste away your whole damn life and
Numb your mind, then you'll find, it's alright except for now you're
Forty-five. Where's the time? You said everything was fine
