Momma can I get a dog
She said no 'cause I was irresponsible
I don' t know what that word is
Maybe because I'm just a kid
Momma won't let me get a dog

Well, I thought about it for quite a long time
And I decided I just had to have that dog
The question is, what does irreponsible mean
I looked it up and came up with a plan
So, I ran up to my momma and this is what I said

Momma, can I get a dog
I promise to be responsible
Yes I know what that word is
Even though Im just a kid
Momma, can I, get a dog

I'd like you, to meet, my new best friend
Rode in my momma's truck to go get him
I walk him and wash him too
And every day I give him food
