Jeremy came to America when he was just 5
His parents said their coming here to find a better life
His father booked a flight to Pittsburgh and gathered all their things
Then he promised little Jeremy that they'd live the life of kings

The issue with America, is things here aren't  cheap
His parents worked both day and night, to earn their meager keep
They got a two bedroom apartment and a beatdown Chevrolet
But they still couldn't keep up with all the bills they have to pay

Well Jeremy 17 now and the lights just went out

Coming home from school and hearing yelling through the door

One too many Ambien, An hour later Jeremy's dead
His mother found him that night slumped over lifeless on his bed
Jeremy was person he lived a life and he had worth
But now he's just a statistic...
