From dealing with a man who loved alcohol more than you
To kids who took your hard work and had their own kids in high school

How did you keep a level head in this all
I spent 4 years wishing to break out of  those  walls
Through the pain and toil with a man who wasn't loyal
And Having kids who took your work and treated it just like dirt

I still remember when you were crying and asking me what to do
I was fourteen mom how was I supposed to have a clue
I saw the hurt and pain and I could only think what I wanted
I didn't want to have to tell everyone about the drama that went on and
So did the selfish thing and I told you stay

That's all it took
That's all I had to say
I love you mom because you've shown us all grace
And stuck through it all through your tremendous faith
