Splatterhouse

Splatterhouse is a beat 'em up arcade game developed and published by Namco. It was the first in a series of games released in home console and personal computer formats. This cult classic would later spawn the parody Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti, the sequels Splatterhouse 2, Splatterhouse 3, and the remake Splatterhouse U.S., with the classic games being added to Namco Museum since 2017. Marketing for the game heavily emphasized its violent nature; for example, the TurboGrafx-16 port of Splatterhouse had a faux parental advisory warning printed on the front of the box that read, "The horrifying theme of this game may be inappropriate for young children... and cowards." more »

My last moments upon me
I await deaths release
The walking dead are at my door
On the floor is a mangled corpse
And only I am to blame
My acts as a ghoulish fiend
Has marked my family's name
Killing myself is the only way to avoid this gruesome fate
End this haunting nightmare gnawing at my brain
To the brink of sanity, conversing with the dead
In search of morbidity I went as my sanity was bled
Had the living known my deeds of blasphemy
From the gallows I would surely hang
Excavations of the sick, no morality
Uncovering forbidden realms, pleasures seldom seen
Chamber of decaying flesh beneath my cellar door
Collecting the trophies of death, a ghastly testament to gore.
There was one tome of filth I had yet to lay my hands upon
Something only whispered of horrific lore
Buried deep in cursed crypts keep it from the fools
Scavenging forgotten lands like a bloodthirsty ghoul
And whence I came to where the plunder was interred
I tore it up with shrieks of glee, I was seriously disturbed
I wrestled it from the skeletal grip of the mad prophet Abdul Al Hazred
Desecration was of no concern, I had broken every fucking rule
Had I known what was to come I would have let it lie in eternity
But Alas all warnings I ignored
Unholy atrocities performed by full moonlight
The ghoulish task of robbing graves
Found myself the perverted tomb quite a ghastly site
This sickened sort is what I crave
Bound in human skin, inked in fresh spilled blood
Rotten incantation, spells to raise the dead
Scriptures of the living dead, key to obscenity's door
Pinnacle of disgust, accursed Necronomicon
I awoke to unnatural screams coming from beneath the floor
As I descended the stairs my darkest fears came flooding back
Seized by the throat, I struggled for breath all went black
A reeking, choking stench like none I had encountered before
Unconscious I collapsed, escaping reality
When I came to, nothing did I see
But the room stained blood red with human debris
