Ill-Advised

Ill-Advised: Presidential Health and Public Trust is a 1992 book by historian Robert Hugh Ferrell examining politically motivated cover-ups of serious medical issues afflicting U.S. presidents while they were in office. Although Dwight Eisenhower is the main focus of the book, it covers the presidency for a century, from Grover Cleveland's mouth cancer in 1893 to the health of George H.W. Bush, then-current president when the book was first published. All of these instances, Ferrell argues, raised serious questions about the fitness of each president to hold office, as well as whether the presidents and their physicians violated the public trust in keeping the incidents secret. more »

On insurrection lane
Stands the hierophant
With an arrogant demure
Draped darkly in her fear
Oh, disenchanted sage
Imbued with chemicals
Like a candlelit lumiere
Disgusted by the seer
On insurrection lane
Lies a demagogue
Or a vampire in the lair
Dissecting what is real
Overcorrection game
Trials on the waterfront
Rejecting what is dear
She's drowning in the fear
On insurrection lane
Cries the animal
Locked somewhere deep within
It's dying to give in
My refracted timeless babe
Tempts her cup below
Like a daydream mirage
Dissolving slowly
Her nervous tremors
Give me the shakes
But I think I'm in the clear
One day
I'll get the hell away from here
Come a little closer
Don't run away
My heart is yours, my dear
So why the hell am I still standing here?
I still miss the way you touched me, babe
Call me crazy
Instant visions of the life we've led
Haunt me daily
Why does this feeling go on
And on?
On insurrection lane
Kneels a man of God
Genuflecting in the mud
Looking for a sign above
Redirect the pain
In the blood I see it all
My prayers have all come to naught
I just feel unloved
Her nervous tremors
Give me the shakes
But I think I'm in the clear
One day
I'll get the hell away from here
Come a little closer
Don't run away
My heart is yours, my dear
So why the hell am I still standing here?
I still miss the way you touched me, babe
Call me crazy
Instant visions of the life we've led
Haunt me daily
Why does this feeling
Go on and on?
I'm still dreaming
Of the night we shared
Come and save me
Karmic missions
Drive subconscious dread
On the easy
Why does this feeling
Go on and on?
I still miss the way you touched me, babe
Call me crazy
Instant visions of the life we've led
Haunt me daily
Why does this feeling
Go on and on?
I'm still dreaming
Of the night we shared
Come and save me
Karmic missions
Drive subconscious dread
On the easy
Why does this feeling
Go on and on?
Why does this feeling
Go on and on?
