I remember when high school was a distant dream
But it came so much faster than it seemed
Getting my license was something I was wishing
And now I slip my keys into the ignition

In 6th grade I fantasized about being 18
But now I am and realize I don't know what it means
Growing up is absolutely terrifying
The glamour, stripped away, I'm left with a fear looming

Where did the time go

That it would pass me by so fast
And enjoying it? I didn't get a chance

"Growing up isn't all it's cracked up to be"
It's a really scary place to be in
And I don't even know where to begin

Riding bikes with my best friend through the neighborhood
Back when times were oh so good
But now even that has changed
Who knew growing up would be so strange

I wish I had cherished those moments more
'Cause now I see how much easier it was before
Stress-free, carefree with no responsibility
Back when I still thought I could be anyone I wanted to be
