LIFE WAS SIMPLE BACK THEN

You knew all your neighbors, and you had fun with your friends. Those days are gone but not forgotten, life was simple back then.
(Little music)
Racing round the neighborhood, you’re trying to play it cool. O’sure you got in trouble, but you took it like a man, cause you knew your friends were watching, and you always had a plan.
Sometimes you had troubles, even with your best friend, but it was soon settled, quicker than the wind.
Then it’s back to racing round your town, climbing up the hill, looking down on your village, you always got a thrill.
 (Little music)
The birds were singing in the trees and the fish were jumping at the creek.
You had your cane pole in hand and fresh worms you dug for bait. You’re walking down the tracks to your favorite fishing hole, singing at the top of your lungs, your favorite country songs.

Those days are gone but not forgotten, life was simple back then. You knew your next-door neighbor; he was your best friend. When hard times hit, everybody pitched in, you never locked your doors, in case your neighbor needed in.

By evening your butt was draggin, but you’d had a good day. You told your friends good night, and headed on your way. You’re home in time for supper, hot bath and a glass of tea.
Just in time to spend the evening, with your hero’s on TV. Why have all the westerns, slowly faded away? Things just kept a changing, as your hero’s pass away. They rode into the sunset, as the stories used to say.

Those days are gone but not forgotten, life was simple back then. You knew your next-door neighbor; he was your best friend. When hard times hit, everybody pitched in, you never locked your doors, in case your neighbor needed in.
(Little music)

As you grew older, you and your friends slowly parted ways. Now you’re in the city, and working every day. You have a wife and kids, and you watch as they go out to play. You think back to your time, and it seems so far away, kind a like a comet, way up there in space. What would mom think, of the way things have changed? She was my biggest hero and she always knew what to say. God bless her soul; I miss her every day.

Those days are gone but not forgotten, life was simple back then. You knew your next-door neighbor; he was your best friend. When hard times hit, everybody pitched in, you never locked your doors, in case your neighbor needed in. O yea, they’re gone but not forgotten, life was simple back then. You looked forward to weekend socials, you made new friends.
O yea, they are gone but not forgotten, life was simple back then.
You never locked your doors, in case your neighbor needed in.
