Orpheus

Orpheus ( /ˈɔrfiːəs/ or /ˈɔrfjuːs/; Ancient Greek: Ὀρφεύς) was a legendary musician, poet, and prophet in ancient Greek religion and myth. The major stories about him are centered on his ability to charm all living things and even stones with his music, his attempt to retrieve his wife, Eurydice, from the underworld, and his death at the hands of those who could not hear his divine music. As an archetype of the inspired singer, Orpheus is one of the most significant figures in the reception of classical mythology in Western culture, portrayed or alluded to in countless forms of art and popular culture including poetry, opera, and painting. more »

You, you've got my heart baby
And where'd you hide it this time
You, you don't need that loving no more
So give me back, give me back what's mine

You buy somebody else red roses
While mine just sit here withering
You, no you ain't coming home to water them
So petals fall, and my heart breaks

Oh red roses
Sit on my kitchen table dying
Darling I should know better
Than to wait around forever
While you buy somebody else red roses

I need a little time to pull myself together
Since I've fallen apart
I still love you so tell me what I have to do
To get you to give me back my heart

Oh I see the way
You're looking at that other man
And I know how this story ends
Spare me the reasons, take his hand

Oh red roses
Sit on my kitchen table dying
Darling I should know better
Than to wait around forever
While you buy somebody else red roses

I've learned there's thorns on every rose
And long after the petals are gone those thorns will still show
I've learned how to make a mess of things
Tell me why you bring my heart so much pain

Oh red roses
Sit on my kitchen table
They just sit there dying
Darling I should know better
Than to wait around forever
While you buy somebody else
Yeah you buy somebody else
You buy somebody else
Red roses
