Just-Ice

Just-Ice (born Joseph Williams Jr.) A former bouncer at punk clubs, Ice was one of the first of the New York MCs to embrace hardcore rap, and when he burst out of Fort Greene, Brooklyn, as Just-Ice, he gained instant notoriety. Muscle-bound, tattooed, aggressive—he resembled Mike Tyson in more than just looks—and with a mouthful of gold teeth, which was the style in his neighborhood. His slickly produced debut single "LaToya/Put that Record back On" was an instant hit. However, a more down-and-dirty sound could be found on the 12" B-Side track, "That Girl is a Slut," which, for the time, was relatively profane and owed at least some inspiration to Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick's "La Di Da Di." Released soon afterward, his debut album Back to the Old School pro… more »

I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought
I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought

I had no choice when I look back
When I felt the way I did those times
Tried to tell you how I felt in those rhymes
To no apparent use feeling useless but now breathless
I won't stop breathing no I won't no
I won't stop relieving myself on this microphone
Draining the ink in my pen
I'll do this until my frustrations amount to nil
I don't need an antidepressant
Music and justice is my cure
No fucking pill and you will pay the price for making me ill
Saying I have a problem
You were my problem and my problems
The side you saw made sure I fought
But now you're discriminating me its war
I have a right to a life with the answers I need
Now I am unresolved but soon I will have you all solved
Standing my ground taking the pain like frostbite its damn cold
But how can I give up now
Now I see the dark
Now I see the dark
Now I see the dark

I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought
I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought

You heard about me (Haha)
You heard about the darkness
I went into the darkness, no
I am the fucking darkness
You say am capable of violence
But for over a year I stayed binded through the pain and suffering you put me through
Created a new alias to get my message to you
So if I took the law into my hands are you going to hold your hands up
As you'd be in the wrong and that is some food for thought
It's about to get dark
I'll make sure none of you come out of this unhindered
The lyrics coming out next proves I need no witness
Saying I am incapable of handling my own matters
You ever witness what happens to somebody's life in shatters
well I am about to show you first
I have no fear and I won't be silenced
I have more rights than you can imagine and you broke them all and declared this war
So I have no fear
I don't have a career you can end, coz when yours is over
Mine will have just begun
And when you've done what you have done it can't be undone

I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought
I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought

Partner and father by day
Lyricist at night
I'll do whatever it takes to make my life right
And get justice right
So don't you ever say to me I crossed the line
You crossed the line because I'm close
You tried to close it down
I'll bring this whole fucking thing down
Merciful, Justice is no more
Justice is gone
Merciful no more
I'm releasing everything I got, all my lyrics
That's eighty-eight songs I wrote
But this is where I finalize my story
I dreamt and imagined glory not dark

I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought
I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought

I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought
I don't want to say it's your fault
But it's the path you chose to walk
Shouldn't have kept close to the dark
So anybody listening here's food for thought
