Henry Miller

Henry Valentine Miller (December 26, 1891 – June 7, 1980) was an American writer and artist. He was known for breaking with existing literary forms and developing a new type of semi-autobiographical novel that blended character study, social criticism, philosophical reflection, stream of consciousness, explicit language, sex, surrealist free association, and mysticism. His most characteristic works of this kind are Tropic of Cancer, Black Spring, Tropic of Capricorn, and the trilogy The Rosy Crucifixion, which are based on his experiences in New York and Paris (all of which were banned in the United States until 1961). He also wrote travel memoirs and literary criticism, and painted watercolors. more »

You know you don't deserve a medal
Seven months ain't much to settle
Never caught me counting petals
Wasn't crying like a kettle
And you you weren't ruined
I don't know what you've been doin'
But I hope that you've been screwin'

Cause ever since the day-ay-ay-ay
When you went away-ay-ay-ay
Wasn't much I didn't say-ay-ay-ay
I'd been feelin' kinda okay

Then I saw you in the crosswalk
Hangin' with a hotshot
Had to show him my block
Had to wear your crop top
I won't make no small talk with some other man
(Some other man!)
In the crosswalk holding your hand

I never knew it now but I see
That you could be a lady
Yeah I got a hunch girl
Maybe you could be a brunch girl
Your Sundays in a sundress
You photoshop a sunset
When you ain't even home yet

But honey now I know-oh-oh-oh
When you're speaking sorta slow-oh-oh-oh
Forty-fourth is where you'll go-oh-oh-oh
Yeah you put on quite a show

And I saw you in the crosswalk
Hangin' with a hotshot
Had to show him my block
Had to wear your crop top
I won't make no small talk with some other man
(Some other man!)
In the crosswalk holding your hand
So walk on by-y-y-y -y-y-y-y-y-y
We said our good bye y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-ys
So walk on by

Then I saw you in the crosswalk
Hangin' with a hotshot
Had to show him my block
Had to wear your crop top
I won't make no small talk with some other man
(Some other man!)
In the crosswalk holding your hand

Hangin' with a hotshot
Had to show him my block
Had to wear your crop top
I won't make no small talk with some other man
(Some other man)
In the crosswalk holding your hand

So walk on by
