I'm not doing well Is that so hard to tell It's not the worst thing I've dealt with But I need to remove this spiritual strain forthwith I'm ridiculously selfish Is it so hard to tell That mother's in the other room And she needs me But I'm writing stupid songs But I have problems They're often hard to tell My peace is wearing thin My outside's folding in Just pray for her You shouldn't need me to tell you But I am praying And doing all I can Why did the chicken cross the road 'Cause he was fed up with this crap You can't leave your home But at least you're at home Your mom can't leave her hospital room And no one can visit her This isn't a left brain, right brain issue The only real problem is you Stop centralizing everything As if you've got all the needs Your family is dying And you're watching as they bleed Come on, get out of bed, and do something about it You've watched decay for long enough And you have just allowed it It's not all your fault I understand you've had your share of pain But time is up for all of this It's time to make a change I want to make a change How can you not realize that It doesn't only hang on me To mend my family's habitat I'm doing what I can for me That should make a difference But what about when those I try to help do nothing different See, though, that's the problem You're just doing it for you You can't change the world By changing you and thinking that you're done When you've worried about your family You've worried how they'll hinder you Get over yourself and help out Someone besides number one You're right, I know, but I have changed I'm not self-centered anymore My empathy has grown to heights I never knew were real before I always try to help my mom in any way I can Washing dishes, folding laundry Emptying the garbage can I'm living different now in almost all positive ways So, why are you trying so hard To make me feel like trash today I'm putting things into perspective just a little bit Because your blinders have been Tunneling your vision as of late Your highest priority can't be you anymore Jesus brutally was murdered 'cause He loved you evermore What's the least that you could do To make your mom's pain a bit less Show her love beyond her dreams And for Pete's sake, give her rest She always wants what's best for you And tries her best to give it And you just turn your back on it You selfish idiot Open up your eyes and see The gift that's right in front of them Honestly, what would you do If she never came back Honestly, what would you do If she gave up on you She never would because her love's too great And she's too pure But really, what would and could you do I don't know, I really don't My mom's the greatest person That I ever got to know With everything she's gone through And everything she does I don't know how she's still here But she is, and I just don't want to lose her Don't want to push her away I love her more than anyone And I hope one day she knows She will, I promise Everything she's gone through and everything she does is for you She's still here because she loves you and your family If you don't want to lose her, then don't push her away Love her more than anyone and make sure that she knows Never let her doubt it for a minute, show her every day Your mother is royalty, so treat her like a queen Be the prince that she deserves and follow her reign I love my mom, her majesty I notice her and see her pain and want to relieve it You have my prayers, my heart, and my attention I love you endlessly and I hope that you believe it
