So I'ma tell you a story real quick...
A story about how I got into Hip Hop
And how it all started for me
Uh
Yo
A young kid I was in it for respect
A young visionary looking up to the vets
Ain't no surprise the streets were like a playground
My brother once told me better get up don't stay down
N' if they tell you stop that ain't no reason just to lay down
You a young king n' it's almost time to reign now
But before that lemme give you all the facts
Look into my past right through this hourglass
And see what got me here to the point that I'm at
In this toxic habit I have the poison attacks
I had lots to learn so observed my surroundings
Something bout' the effort in letters I found arousing
My thoughts compounded
I kept myself grounded
For me it started in the early 2000's
I used to ride the Skytrain to look out the window
At all the pieces on the walls n' kept my head low
I was only just 9 years old
When I found myself starting to act bold
Drawing in my black-book with my headphones
All I thought about were letters even on my walk home
everyone at school used to look at me funny
Pulling up to the spot while I listen to Cudi
I had to earn my respect
N' pay my dues
But nobody gets a cent till they in my shoes
Cuz hip hop runs deep within my roots
N if I stay true surely I will never lose
In my down time I was outside on my own
Painting every paintable spot from here to other zones
It came down to bridges, box trucks, n' billboards,
At one point the vandal squad on my ass like Filmore
But in my spare time
I was inside
With the art form
With a flame that can start wars
Came down to documentaries and montages
Suddenly my name become a hot topic
Can't blame em'
I ain't famous but made plays in
This game called graffiti that came n' made waves in it
"Who's this young kid on the block?"
"Who this young buck hitting up all my spots?"
"Who's this kid think he is stepping up to what I got?"
They don't understand what I'm doing that's making my shit pop
Uh
But I never see it as competition
My only enemy is me catching myself slipping
I used to rack all my paint from hardware stores
N' benched every freight that my software would store
I been 14 years deep losing sleep in this Graff game
A lot of people might be concerned I went that way
Compare this crime to others n' it ain't much of a bad thing
The only thing that is, is roller extension back pain
But I still fail to mention the fast way
The last string for me was the picture in the last frame
So I fought through the doubt and decisions
I made it a mission of always staying consistent
N' pushing my boundaries beyond inner limits
And so to this day I'm only really outliving
The writers who think that their spot was just given
We all have insecure egos but don't admit it
But I can
Cuz its power in the right hands
N' I'm the right man for the job
So gimme all you got cuz I'm never gonna stop
if you don't take what's yours then someone else will
All it takes is one slip up to make the blood spill
It's a doggy doggy world n it's kill or be killed
I developed my style
Threw sketches in a pile
Taking flicks of my own shit making myself smile
Like damn I did that last night
N' met some brothers that would rep by my side for life
It's like these are the people I go to war for
goin the same way anyways
So What's a door for?
In other words Graffiti became alive
No matter what I tried
To make the urge subside
Time n' time again nothing would really suffice
Feeling comfort under streetlights in the dead of night
I levelled up Throwies to Burners to Pieces, Productions and Murals all within a short amount of time
There's some older cats saying that I'm really out of line
But really being honest they just running out of time
'Cuz I do what they wish they could if my talent wasn't mine
Never meet your idols is what I've learned to realize
But 1 by 1
I'm shutting all of em' up
My work speaks for itself
I'm always 1-ing them up
So I dropped all the politics
I don't need to follow it
obsessing over that only keeps your thoughts Hollowing
I never really thought that graffiti would pay
"I love doing legals" is something that I thought I'd never say
But here I am now contradicting that mind state
Vancity's all yours and not only on them Fridays
So now I'm making a living
Still in the yard killing
Every steel giant that's flying into my vision
There's people in my life that are praying for my downfall
Cuz I don't quit I'm stubborn - a heavy handful
You think this is all that I am? It's just a sample
There's more to me than just aerosol can rattles
Step to the plate if you really wanna battle
Cuz I'm slick with the can control that I handle
And if you don't f*ck with my story then change channels
This is my story growing up in the shadows
It's Sauce
