Well they laughed and called me names
And I laughed back just as hard
Their pathetic little games just made me smile
Along came a sense of humour
And a laugh to dry my eyes
The rituals adopted by the mind

Their cruelty never wavered
Well I guess it never does
There's something to be said for both of us
I bruised my hands for morons
And I wasted all my breath
On the things of which I'd rather just forget

I met her at my lowest
God knows what crossed her mind
She must have sensed a sadness through my smile
I mourned for my parents marriage
And the comfort left behind
A security now missing in my life

I watched my dad in ruin
As he drank it all away
I saw him as a boy cry out in pain
And I know I lost control
You know I was just afraid
I was far to weak to even turn a page

I learn't the method of forgiveness
And you taught me how to love
I don't think that I can thank you quite enough
You stayed close when I was distant
and you helped me find my way
