Fifteen hungry children at the table, sweet potato-mash that’s all there was
Daddy could’nt make a buck, monshine was his only luck, and one day they found him hanging on a rope

Working hard to get an extra nickle, so that she could see the picture show
Gable, Garbo, Erroll Flynn, in the dark she gazed at them, but the king of cowboys really made her go

Look in her eyes, those long-gone times, were’nt as good as some believe
