I preferred to spending time with her than in prayer or in the Word
And while she had established number one status in my world
I constantly heard this voice telling me to

Nevertheless I still stayed with her because by then we became one
Our spirits
Our souls
Our bodies joined together
And for her my soul was one
I soon lost all conviction to remain pleasing in God's sight
I also lost a sense of direction that He had once place in my life
And when I lost that direction I lost the passion
I lost that fire
I compromised His purpose and adopted her dreams as my desires
One day
One day a voice came back to me and said
Return back to the Father
But I thought to myself
Are you serious
Why even bother
I mean to end things with this girl seemed to me so very wrong
I thought that we could conquer anything our love was just that strong
But it turns out I was wrong
What once was strong quickly got weak
See we stopped seeing eye to eye
And then it got real hard to speak
Without arguing over something
We were soon in this land of danger
This beautiful sophisticated woman I once knew well
Was rapidly becoming a stranger
One day when I was trying to figure out the whole conclusion
The Lord did speak to me and He gave me His clear solution
He said Eric why do you forsake the plans I have for you
I put a purpose in your life
There is much work for you to do
It is true I've put the sister in your life but for a reason
But that reason's been fulfilled
You must move on to the next season
She is not who've I've ordained for you to marry
You know that well

You must now become like Abraham
And rid yourself of Ishmael
And simply wait on Isaac
When she comes I'll let you know

You've got to let her go
But I didn't want to let her go
I love this girl with all my soul
But I knew I had to do it because my God did tell me so
I knew I had to do it for my good but I had fear
I mean
Who would give me the love she gave me
Who would wipe away my tears
Who would tell me that they love me
Who would comfort me at night
That's when the Holy Spirit spoke and gave my soul so much insight
The Holy Spirit spoke while I has praying on my knees
He said
You can't fully love somebody until you first learn to love me
It's not hard to fall in love
That's the greatest gift from God
But to love them in the fullest type of love is very hard
When you don't understand the fullness that is given from above
To break it down you can't love woman until you love God
Because God is love
See people think love is a feeling that just pops into the air
It's the level that's supposed to follow after you show you really care
Everyone wants to fall in love and feel they need it to be content
But God's satisfies your needs and gives you wants that are heaven-sent
If you let the Father love you Eric nothing else will matter
So Eric I challenge you try Him
See how life can be much phatter
(He really did say phatter)
So I
Accept the challenge to try Him
And I can testify and say
Although sometimes things do get tough
I grow strong with God each day
And I know he will mature me
To be the man I'm called to be
So I can do His will completely and fulfill my destiny
Now as the Spirit did challenge me
I challenge you to do the same
Some of y'all are in relationships where there is nothing more to gain
Some of y'all have false gods idols that you have placed before the Lord
Because you'd rather spend time with her
Or him
Or her
Or that idol
Than in prayer or in the Word
The Lord's been asking you for more but you've ignored Him when He's called
But right now deep in your heart
You know you cannot love at all
Or at least you can't love fully till God's place first within your heart
It's time to rid yourself of Ishmael and begin a brand new start
Understand how Jesus wants to love you
Love you

And develop you to be
Everything He's called you to be even the things you cannot see
I know it's hard to sacrifice something solid something sure
For something you cannot see and then believe it will give you more
But Abraham had faith to do it
And God's Word was found so true
And because of Jesus
What God did for Abraham
He will surely
Surely do it for you
