They say "You don't belong in the cage"
Then tell me, why do I feel safer here?
Why does freedom holds me bound?
And why do I choke from the very oxygen I breathe?
Tied to this bars, why do I feel they re protecting me?
These walls, they safe guarding me
Tell me, why do I mistake these thorns for crowns?
And chains for ornaments?
They say "2000 Years ago
You made a declaration for the emancipation of the slaves"
They say you hung on a stake
And there lies every handwriting
Of my slave master against me Abolished
While in the middle of the deep blue sea
You came and took control of the sail
Became captain of my soul. You promised we will dock safe on the shore
I believed you, I still do
But lord
these waters, they trouble me
This ocean is too deep
Still, you tell me to walk on it
And I'm sinking in
Are you sleeping?
I'm drowning
Yet you tell me to trust in you
Well, I trust in you
When you said
Faith the size of mustard seed
Can rearrange mountains
Into low leveled landscapes
I trust in you...
When it feels like the dark
Lingers longer than the light
And I don't understand
Why you let the things You let happen
I trust in you
Even Where my feet fails
And fear surrounds.
Covered in this veil
And tears abounds
I still trust in you

If these fears are a tornado
I need your peace be still
I need your peace be still
When the storms are overwhelming
I need your peace be still
I need your peace be still
When it feels like I can't breath
With your oxygen let my lungs be filled
Let my lungs be filled
I need your peace be still
Your Peace be still

Fourteen is too young
For the arms to meet what it feels like
For a body to be lifelessly cold
And I'm wondering
How firm did my grip needed to be
To be able to hold onto his soul?
The soul of the one who gave me birth
I remember silently screaming your name
I needed you to come save the day Lord
But hey
Living without a father figure?
What does the future hold for me
If he's not here to help me figure?
Well, I figured
Maybe if I cover this wounds with bandages of distractions
Lurked in the dark, pretend it doesn't hurt
Spend all nights in front of the TV screens
Remotes controls on one hand
The other creams
Staring at these demons, the shape of eight
Like mummies on the inside disfigured
And on the outside I'm this figure everybody looks to
Mehn... my soul screams
Lord... you see my circle, golden
You see this rod daily I'm holding
But hold on can You hold me up?
There's a hole in me, and
I'm drowning deep
Everytime I put my hands on the plow
I feel a million miles away
This distance Is killing me
Seventeen
In a game that seemed like chess
To death I lost my sister queen
And at the sound of the news to my ear drums
I knew you were king.
Forgive me if my heart became too numb
To take knee
If this mind started to doubt,
When you called me your knight
I felt like like a pawn
Used and deceived by these bishops as I watched them paint you Love
I grew comfortable behind these prison walls
But Oohhhh how wrong I was
"Cos" When your pain is all you see
You loose sight of God
When you let yourself be overcome by sorrow
You drown from it
And when your rook is all there is
Don't loose sight of all the king has done
He is the one who calls from the great unknown
See I have walked on waters.
And i don't know if my next step will sink or float
I don't know if these mountains will move or stay
Yet I trust In you

If these fears are a tornado
I need your peace be still
I need your peace be still
When the storms are overwhelming
I need your peace be still
I need your peace be still
When it feels like I can't breath
With your oxygen let my lungs be filled
Let my lungs be filled
I need your peace be still
Your Peace be still

I hated the look on their faces
When the heard my cells were born sickle
It was like the unconsciously put me in a box and labeled it fragile
Handle with care
Making a mental list of my seeming limitations
Run- that's all I could read in the faces scribbled with
Pity all over them
I was running on a treadmill for years
I was running out of confidence and hope
The very things that kept me going
I was running from acceptance
The very start of my victory
The more I ran
The more stagnant I felt
The very things I was running from were catching up with me
These lines on my skin are beyond poetry
These tales are beyond moonlight
Run and run all you can
For what a man runs to is all that counts
To let the whispers of his promises drown every voice of fear
I have hidden my heart in the embrace of his love and will
He is for me and his love does not shift like shadows
My heart will continually trust
Now I know that a man is only free when he reaches the end of himself
So run and run all you can
What a man runs to is all that counts

If these fears are a tornado
I need your peace be still
I need your peace be still
When the storms are overwhelming
I need your peace be still
I need your peace be still
When it feels like I can't breath
With your oxygen let my lungs be filled
Let my lungs be filled
I need your peace be still
Your Peace be still

For me and many more like me
It's not a question of your existence
What we pursue is not load of your blessings
Beyond these waves cause us to see your essence
Teach us the art of your endurance
And lord let our souls be filled with your presence
Because in the end that is all that really counts
