In Tennessee, there is a place where many men have died
And the tears of wives and mothers fell after every battle cry
And I've seen the fields and meadows and the valleys there so low
And the hidden graves of men in grey,  buried deep there at Shiloh
And I'm walking down in Shiloh and the cannon are still there

To the ridge  where a soldier crawls, to greet the morning dawn

As it sinks into the cold black dirt and makes it hallowed ground
