I shake at first touch
From a woman I've come to trust
My bite's still strong, I still bare my teeth
She got past my mask
I designed to distract
To dissuade the merchant, the traitor, and the thief
I can count on her to turn
From soft to stern
She's got a fire to strike the enemy when I am weak
With no instructions given
Somehow, she knows within
How to clear the space for the mind and the spirit to speak
There's woman in the girl
Both-and are her world
Who's always present, but not always seen
She rises with a roar
That puts an end to the war
All noise suspends and, for a moment, there is peace
She has her will and form and nothing else
No world to die but make fit for herself
A practice in new logics is good health
It's nonsense to think
There is any meaning
If all your mind does is relate to itself
In a tired, foggy blur
I gave myself to her
I slouched beneath a load I thought I could bare
She took me in
Like any other man
She said, "Place your cloak on the back of the chair"
She don't give a f*ck
I hit a string of hard luck
She got the power to unstuck
So I'm going below
To the Woman of the Meadow
I thought she'd contest
'Bout the unrest in her nest
She ought to have set my things ablaze with kerosene
I can't seem to grasp
What she gains from my ass

It's not that she can't relate
She just don't see it that way
She scans the earth with a gentler kind of touch
I haven't seen it yet
Any move I would regret
If I could do her wrong, she hasn't said
But I know she could fire
A whole stormy spire
And I doubt I'd get a chance to save my head
She stands outside my world and looks at time
My rhythmic movement through the ringing chimes
She knocks away the ladder I did climb
To an endless life I obeyed
Where I moved, she stayed
Where the landscape of thoughts and colors are prime
She is crystalline
A full-bodied tangerine
She stands in her place with open doors
She caught a lot of flack
For lyin' on her back
But I haven't known a man who wouldn't crawl on her floor
I undo my ties
I face my evil side
I go eye to eye
With my shadow
With the Woman of the Meadow
I don't mean to brag
But there is no lag
She smiles when I tell her my mistakes
Whatever drew us near
It has kept us here
And I believe it's helped both our sakes
I begin to sink
Into her offerings
Each inch gets me closer to bliss
Away from order
She relaxes the border
I transcend conventions that lead me to this
I watch her dress
And I begin to guess
The shapes in which she transforms
Her existence is clear
But her purpose here
Is written nowhere and needs to be explored
Out by the straining rim where the lines get dim
It might be seen as a fleeting passing whim
I've thought this through and waited for the when
For the fading lights to spark
For the masts of my arc
To be built and I can set sail with a grin
In every other case
I have to claim my space
But she and I ain't even actin' on the same plane
We are going up
We raise our cups
To a life that has everything to gain
I have my reason
This is her season
There is one place this one
Is called to go
To the Woman of the Meadow.
