Life gets corrupt
But we need it
We need it

I'd love to pen you all a letter
Or maybe write you a song called
A series of my unfortunate events, to which you could all sing along
Living life longing for a life worth living
Praying for truth in the piss poor promise that each day's a new beginning
I redefine minging, my nerves are always stinging
I'm so separate from myself, my suicide would be an honour killing
I stash snaps of scraps of me that shed on mass you'd better
Watch where you lie on me or you'll fall through the cracks

I write lyrics like a child writes a Christmas wish list
But I've swapped material gifts for a break from sickness
There's no sick pay when Trigger Thumb is the business
As we sit back to see sink into non-existence
And they were the most persistent
Gigged consistent, sorry if you missed it
Though we've not yet had a good stretch
We're still resistant
Pen in hands now, come back strong the singular mission
Both progress and setbacks on my shoulders are there by own admission
I cleared the calendar and it nearly killed my boy's commitment
Protecting my ego and condition he stays schtum but he's admitted that
Bright lights, stages and your wide eyes are why he's in it
More than anything I respect that but I'll never get it
Cos for me, it's that moment we share in your car
At the gym, when you f*ck or sing in the shower
With your boy or your girl, got abuse, get it hurled
Cos if you don't have something nice to say at least you know how to use words

And what's it like, to be a minority in this type of music

That conversation's stupid, and tell me
To which type of music would you like to reduce me
Can't wait till fucking me becomes a concept that's seducive
Tinder profile says extrovert gone reclusive
Sick of my return to stage date being so elusive
Meditate to stop my internal narrative be so abusive
CBT, CBD, my job got me presenting like CBEEBIES
Watching the youth get charged for ideas that should be freebies
Cassettes are back and now I put my tea cups on CDs
Whilst I clear up digital space taken up by my MP3s
And I wish I could defund the whole world
And not just the BBC's polarising polaroids of polar bears on polar ice caps
Whilst Putin bots predict my pen presses before I write them
Life's fights prefer my hands tight before I dive in
I play chicken with Bradford boys on the wrong side without a licence
Fearless, coked up and only vulnerable when they're fighting

The times they are a changing no guarantees they'll get better
So you should live your life now as if you would never regret it
Maybe I should turn these words into a letter or a song called
A series of my unfortunate events to which you could all sing along
