Leaky Mick and Vinny P the talker Made plans through the night for their maiden voyage southward This trip will make of us two men enlightened Collecting tales to regale the anchored folk back home They journeyed to the red lights of Pattaya Where a Bar Girl set her sights on Vinny P He swapped his innocence and savings for a story But hadn't bargained for that case of stinging pee Further south they happened upon Frankston On word of a start with a cousin in construction From dawn 'til dusk they busied for new silver And every Sabbath came and they pissed it all away Their journey like their beer was growing stale From Nelly's to the Harp and then O'Neill's Where the accents from the old land drown the new one And they wondered had they ever left the green So Mick & Vinny settled down to plottin' To escape from the stock and shackled ways they had maintained Seven large on tick from Leaky's old man Enough for a down payment on a 'coming of age' tale So they joined the road of independent thinkers In a line of thousands thinking just the same A dread and tie-dyed band of moneyed pilgrims Hitch-hiking their way to better days Half the pot was used to hire the camper A classic flowered Samba built in 1951 "Abundance lies in wait with our tomorrows" Vinny P asserted as he powered the engine on So they ventured to the outback with the masses All purple hazed and wide eyed with a dream Hooked up with a Journeyman a passin' Sayin' "I'll show you things you thought you'd never see" Coin my hand, I'll take you to a Shaman These stories that you crave are in his Ayahuasca brew A monkey each and meet back here at nightfall Prepare to be awoken boys, there's treats in store for you So they waited there 'til mornin' shone upon 'em Dawning 'fore they did, that they'd been had Some of us are woke and some are woken Some they sleep 'til slumber becomes them Driven by that loss they fumbled forward Stopping to gas up, they meet some fellow countrymen "We're for Dead Horse Gully, Where you headed?" Vinny glances Mickward shrugs a shoulder, shouts "jump in" Finally they arrived upon a clearing a fire spat its sparks into the night And barefoot tourists flocked to gather 'round it Declarin' "hey man, ain't this the life" A flower crowned girl dances to the singing And a kid with a misspelt 'Carpe Diem' tattoo strums along A clockwise blunt has made its way to Vinny Pulling deep, he leans to Mick and whispers beneath the song And he said, "Can you find the Wilderness of nowhere? With a three string guitar, ringing in your ear" And all the lights that lead us there are blinding Mick nods in agreement "Man that's deep" Five years on they're back upon the homeland Paying for their yesterdays with tomorrows and todays Spinning tales of what they seen a travellin' Embellishing each other's yarns is how they earned their names And If you're looking for some kind of moral? The best I do is "flippant insincere" Careful when you try to find Nirvana Or you might end up listening to Creed
