It might be calming to look down at the waves when you're sailing
You lean too far you might fall in against the walls that hold you tall
But I know it's easy to look up at the stars, but I am begging you please, don't you forget about Mars
It's the closest chance that we've had to finding a life that's not so bad anymore

These premonitions: I must build an ark
Your superstition keeping you away from the dark: how it is best to ignore the force driving your course
You might just find those paper hearts, they are so close to mine
But compared side-by-side you see the imperfect lines.
You can tell mine are worth less
You see me at my best

Static moments charged, they cannot hold our train of thought
As we grow old our mentor melodies will come into our own
And if all those that say we're stuck out of time were truly lost
Then I'd be defined as one of the few humans to move past their errors
Don't you go the way of Rome, never finding a home
Just do the best you can, don't you grow up to become a man
It's lost in history
With a double take you would see now as my enemies grow my emptiness goes

You imagine yourself at your best, until you realize you are part of the rest
How it burns to be left unused: a bomb with its fuse
You might just be the greatest
You're the thought in the pause, but any break in the silence will sound the applause
An echo through outer space, it seems too out of place

Static moments charged, they cannot hold our train of thought
As we grow old our mentor melodies will come into our own
And if all those that say we're stuck out of time were truly lost
Then I'd be defined as one of the few humans to move past their errors
Don't you go the way of Rome, never finding a home
Just do the best you can, don't you grow up to become a man
It's lost in history
With a double take you would see now as my enemies grow my emptiness goes

You say the kings are dead by the orange and the red leaves falling faster than the sands from the hourglass
You thank god for dying; it beats the hell out of trying while you're still around
You stand just to curse the ground
And you make me worry you want to leave here in a hurry
Though this turn is just for fun; the game has just begun

Static moments charged, they cannot hold our train of thought
As we grow old our mentor melodies will come into our own
And if all those that say we're stuck out of time were truly lost
Then I'd be defined as one of the few humans to move past their errors
Don't you go the way of Rome, never finding a home
Just do the best you can, don't you grow up to become a man
It's lost in history
With a double take you would see now as my enemies grow my emptiness goes
