In the midst of a panic attack
With my heart beating fast
A hull of myself receiving an embrace from my guitar

Walk down the street, silhouettes I greet
Instinctive scared perception
But I never considered what they are
Or even yet, or what they might think of me
They'd see the same perception, seeing me

But assignments float around
And extracurriculars to be found
Summer, future classes plans
Writing songs, reading books
Cooking dinners myself

Hanging out with friends
Walking, running, showering, sleeping
Occasionally hitting the gym - that was one time
YouTube, games, one line a day, journalism gains

This is my life
You can be what you want to be
With the spark in you, yeah
You fuel your fire
Of own desire, to drive
And go through your life

I've often found my lyrics lag behind my melodies
Like a running pace, always a step behind
Throat hurting for air
Core crunching microtears
It builds me into a stronger person

Three classes stacked, or is this so?
Less than my peers and many breadths to go
Will I be fulfilled, what I have to achieve?

Or am I taking it too easy and doubting myself
Should've involved myself in those club outings and groups
Past initial deadline dues

But stop
Stop feeling let down
The past is done, dwelling is out
Take your charge to move steps forward
And what you set to achieve

It's good to honor the past, to believe
And know how ahead's opportunities
They'll come for you, and only when you
work towards them and face them on

This is my life

Since intermediate education, I realize
Technology and social media's irony
Ways of communication seemingly closer to being connected
Yet the opposite isolation's in effect

Read receipts and worryings of texting back
I've always thought this from the get-go

In general trends of mental health
That is how it goes
Face to face's it's valuable

Vulnerable connections
The raw, truth, honesty
Information presents itself
Feelings are all we've got
In the human experience
I'm not lost
