I remember a blank wall was shown
And over eons and eons of time
I came to know every detail of it
And eventually what I would draw on it came to me

And I found that all along the way
In unmerited emotional quandary
Unable to even hold the brush

A talk-box sending out my thoughts
In broken speech through clogs and rust
Perhaps just in low resolution

To an abandoned schoolyard alone
Resonating into unknown decline

And all of that time it was as if
I was being chased on foot by three armies
And by a giant dragon with twenty wings
Who wishes ten thousand evils upon me
One whose hatred only subsides
When his head is above in the skies
And I am always in constant shock
Above all by why I haven't stopped

Why did I never quit?
At the very end of the line
Having left not one scratch of ink
On that vast, empty wall of mine
I'm told here by the voice of a younger me
That all those generals in those armies
Spilling blood with each one of us they ran through
They never triumphed over one part
That said with certain what we all knew
Like a mantra in the wavelength of time

That our effort was soon to bear fruit
And when it did, she did not even question me
She just skipped along leading the way

There are things that when you come back to them
They're just as when you saw them last
They are just as when you left them
I am leaving, and coming home fast
