There's a blue jay flying, flying, in the rain
He never liked singing, singing, to start the day
He'd rather watch as the mountains and the rivers change
The clouds might part and the wind might take him far away
There's a boy who's off to, off to school again
A puddle's on the road, he almost stepped in it
A running start, he thought, "is this what flying is"
He jumped so high, he might as well have been
Well you and I, we must be doing something right
A month became a year, and that's just life
We only live so long, but stories never die

School's closed and blue jay's staying in alone
Caught his breath and realised just how far he's flown
Boy's scared, and so his mom hung up the phone
And held him close to shield him from the thunderstorm
Will you hope and watch and pray for better days
