The Bells

"The Bells" is a heavily onomatopoeic poem by Edgar Allan Poe which was not published until after his death in 1849. It is perhaps best known for the diacopic use of the word "bells." The poem has four parts to it; each part becomes darker and darker as the poem progresses from "the jingling and the tinkling" of the bells in part 1 to the "moaning and the groaning" of the bells in part 4. more »

I like driving
Late at night
Roads are empty
No one in sight

And I'm the only one who's driving
I end up talking to the stars

The stars in the sky won't talk back to me
Time goes so slow when you're away
I never liked being scenery
I can't explain

I want answers no one knows
Everyone's pretending
So the story goes

And I'm the only one who's driving
I end up talking to the stars

The stars in the sky won't talk back to me
Time goes so slow when you're away
I never liked being scenery
I can't explain

The stars in the sky won't talk back to me
Time goes so slow when you're away
I never liked being scenery
I can't explain
