I shot a rifle on grandpa's farm, when i was young
The trigger was hard to pull
And the kick back, it bruised my arm
When I turned 30 I went to Las Vegas 
To a machine gun shooting range
I was just so shocked at how easy it was
To shoot 100 bullets on a target page

It just felt like a toy
I thought toys were for fun?
Not for destroying the life of no one 
They say it's just a few bad apples 
Not the fault of no gun 
But I ask how many would we lose
If we just fought without thumbs

And no I'm not trying to sound funny
I know these things come down to power and money  
And I know that I'm foreign and not from around here 
Should I just shut up and go drink my beer 
And what about your father son trips hunting deer 
And I know its hard to relax when your country's built on fear
While back home there ain't got no more left 
There was one big shooting back in 96 
Where they threw em on a pile and melted them down to steel
Oh Mr. Howard gave him a real good trade-in deal 
When I float the idea to folks in America, they say
'Take them away, you'll create hysteria
It's written in stone it's our right to bear arms 
To protect our own from the evil and harm in this world

It just felt like a toy and 
I thought toys were For fun
