As I open my grade two listed sash timber window

The sound of the street doesn’t get much louder particularly

On account of the single glazed, twelve pane panel TV street scene

I can feel an air gap even when the window’s closed

Between the frame and the lathe and plaster biscuit wall construction

I look left and I look right and the seagulls looks straight back at me

It’s their town now and they own the sound, the day, the night

And I’ve been sleeping so much recently

I remember walking up to the brewery to buy tickets for a show

And Josh Christie was there like some kind of timeless bronze statue

Even though he doesn’t live here any more
