Floyd Jones

Floyd Jones (July 21, 1917 – December 19, 1989) was an American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter, who is significant as one of the first of the new generation of electric blues artists to record in Chicago after World War II. A number of Jones' recordings are regarded as classics of the Chicago blues idiom, and his song "On The Road Again" was a top ten hit for Canned Heat in 1968. Notably for a blues artist of his era, several of his songs have economic or social themes, such as "Stockyard Blues" (which refers to a strike at the Union Stockyards), "Hard Times" or "Schooldays". more »

(We are one)

I know
At the end of the day
You’re falling apart
I know
What they’ve done to your mind
Has broken you heart

We are, we are, we are, we are, we are
More than, more than what they see

Risin’ from the ashes
To fly across the sky
We are here together
We are one tonight
I can hear the whispers
See the passion in your eyes
We are here together
We are one tonight

Yeah we’re here together
Didn’t come to fight
We’re not here forever
But we’re one tonight

I know (oh, I know)
There’s a quiet storm
Stirring inside your mind
But I know
You still got hope
For the blindly unkind

With my faith I still believe
(I still believe, I still believe)
In the good of humanity
We are, we are, we are, we are, we are (we are)
More than, more than what they see

Risin’ from the ashes
To fly across the sky
We are here together
We are one tonight
I can hear the whispers
See the passion in your eyes
We are here together
We are one tonight

Yeah we’re here together
Didn’t come to fight
We’re not here forever
But we’re one tonight

One day (one day)
One day we’ll rise
We’ll rise to meet the times
Side by (side by)
Oh, side by side
We’ll step into the light

We are one (we are one)
We are one (be the love)
Be the love tonight

We’re here together
Didn’t come to fight
We’re not here forever
But we’re one tonight

We’re here together
Didn’t come to fight
Be the love (be the love)
Be the love (be the love)
Be the love tonight

We are one (we are one)
We are one (be the love)
Be the love tonight
