Think I need to make amends before I start
Back in '07 thought i broke a heart
Weird time to be oddly specific
But how much love fits in this auburn Civic
Is it enough to justify the pain it caused

I'm so sorry, that I failed you
Is it adequate to put it into words
Or presumptious to aussume how much it hurt
Never really good at part-time-loving
But couldn't hit the breaks so it was full-time sobbing
I feel stupid writing this so many years too late
Pray for time to pass slower in the states
You were always modest, always understanding
Could we please move that 747 landing until today
Until I'm grown enough to know my place
Until open arms and open hearts become a lived standard and something that i truly embrace
