I think it bit me in my early teens
And it's been here with me ever since
My ramshackle liver, like me, still here
Banking on living for a few more years
'Cos every time the world takes me to task
I have a few drinks and I have a few laughs
I know I can't get given everything I ask
But I've got the balls and I've got some brass
And if it doesn't work out I know I'll get another chance
And it'll work out fine after I pour another glass

I've got a flask of whiskey
A bottle of wine
And a few cold beers, so I'll be fine

To stop me thinking ill of you

Well, maybe I'm just another dope full of expectation
Full of tipsy hopes in a hopeless situation

To get the call from the bottom of the glass
But all the water under the bridge
Not made to order but not all a bitch
I could be forgiven for wishing for more
For what I've been given and I've been given what for
And so back on the couch doing what comes naturally
Pouring out what god has given me
