Looking out the window at another day
Thinking 'bout how life just speeds on by
All the chances and all the pain
All the sunshine and all the rain

I can see the man that you'll become
Hiding just behind your youth
I can see you searching for
Your own pathway your own truth

And I wonder if I taught you everything you'll need to know
Will a part of me go with you when its time for you to go
Will you turn to face the world with open arms and eyes that see
And do you know how much you mean to me, my Son.

Looking back at all the life we've shared
Where did all of our time go
I hope you know I did the best I could
Did the things that I thought I should

Were the lessons taught lessons learned
and will you take them on your way
Its hard for me but now I know
Its time for me to let you go
