They both worked at the insurance brokers
Dave and Cindy were both smokers
She was standing outside by the post room door 
He asked her for a light but he wanted more
He’d caught her eye on more than one occasion
At the coffee machine and the photocopy station
As she inhaled she felt her heartbeat rise
He looked handsome and he seemed quite nice

There was talk of moving in together
Dave was hesitant at being tied down  
Cindy took him to her mum and dad’s across town
Pretty soon they had a nice new home 
Then Cindy told Dave she was three months gone
He tried to look happy like you’re supposed to
But the house was a prison and inside he knew
