Molly Brant (c. 1736 – April 16, 1796), also known as Mary Brant, Konwatsi'tsiaienni, and Degonwadonti, was a Mohawk leader in British New York and Upper Canada in the era of the American Revolution. Living in the Province of New York, she was the consort of Sir William Johnson, the British Superintendent of Indian Affairs, with whom she had eight children. Joseph Brant, who became a Mohawk leader and war chief, was her younger brother. A couple hours north
There's a joint down by the lake
Had another round
I was feelin' my heart ache
Help me, please
I don't know what to say
I can't handle this cold
Every single day

Across the bar
There's a woman sittin' all alone
She looked me in the eye
Then she came to say "hello"
She said "Honey
You really think your life is hard?
Spend a couple of minutes
In my graveyard"

"'Cause I'm an old northern woman
I lived through this shit once or twice
I'm an old northern woman
I been runnin' from the devil almost all my life"

Her brother died in the war
She sold that plot of land
Started workin' at the liquor store
She had mouths to feed
Another baby on the way
So the winter was long
And there's bills to pay

"I'm an old northern woman
These trying times have been here before
I'm an old northern woman
I never once complained but I always wanted more"

Then she grabbed me by my shoulder
Sat me down with her to pray
She said "Someday, when you're older
You'll remember me
You'll remember what I say"

"I'm an old northern woman
I love these Minnesota nights
I'm an old Northern Woman
There ain't nothing gonna slow me down or take my rights"

"I'm an old northern woman
I love these Minnesota nights
I'm an old Northern Woman
There ain't nothing gonna slow me down or take my rights
Cause I've been runnin' from the devil almost all my life
I'm an old northern woman
'Cause I'm an old northern woman"
