Anthony Phillips

Anthony Edwin "Ant" Phillips (b. 23 December 1951, Chiswick, west London) is an English multi instrumentalist, first known as a founding member of the band Genesis. He played guitar and sang backing vocals until leaving in 1970, following the recording of their second album, Trespass. He left due to suffering from stage fright, after being told by his doctor that the best thing would be to leave the band. He is known for his twelve string guitar work, and his influence can be heard throughout Genesis's early output. more »

So let me hop up again
It's been a minute since we kicked it but I'll still be your friend
I ain't tripping that the mission had to slow down a bit
But y'all just talk and don't listen guess it all makes sense (Maaaaaaan)
But it really ain't relevant
I'm coming out the other side a lil more intelligent
My body like a symphony
Sensations and epiphanies
We try to fix the past end up just repeating history (Uh oh)
Then we act like it's a mystery
The writing on the wall like calligraphy, literally
Take a look within n you might find serendipity
Addicted to the misery
Or maybe we pretend to be
Seek attention that's the way to be, lunacy
We can end it all but we rather tune in and see
Ole foolish me
Now ya not fooling me
Play me like a fool and see some real tom foolery

Working on the inner vision
The path laid out but it's still unwritten
Takin me serious I'm just bullshitting
But you might learn something if you do listen

Ha, I'm trippin'
Should really stop sippin'
I'm tryna be like one-hundred twenty-five still livin'
But don't it get twisted I still get twisted
Get my mind right and It's back to my business
Cause when it come to this rap shit I'm a master
I know I ain't the greatest but I never spit a bad verse
Ima clap it and slap it until her ass hurts
You can bet your sweet ass that I asked first
Nice boy who turned into a sad boy
But not afraid to show with little bad boy
I might go Diddy on a coach when I'm mad boy
I might go '89 pistons up on your ass boy
Cause we gon do this thang just like a game now
Sit back, relax, and let it play out
Let the facts come out, that's any day now
You can't make me leave I'm already on the way out
