I can smell, I can sense it, that autumn's in the air
I can feel it, I can almost touch it, like some object lying there
Can you hear it, that's the sound of silence, there's not a bird up in the sky
Can you see it, the leaves are rustling, as a whirlwind catches flight

Then I ponder on the things to come, 'cause winter's on it's way
And soon the Christmas carol's, you know they'll be playin' them every day
And when Santa brings his merriment, to each and everyone
I'll be sitting by the fire, knowing my work is done

Can you see them, on the playground, all the children having fun
But it won't be too much longer, 'fore they're playin' days are done
Cause the winter winds will be blowin' soon, and knockin' at they're door
They'll be bundled up, all safe and warm, just like they were the year before

And when I, realize, and know for sure, that winter's here to stay
I'll think of all the beauty, that comes from each and every day
But my mind can not, escape the fact, I'll be dreaming of the spring
So for now, I'll take it all in stride, an see what winter brings

For a moment, just a moment, I think of summer days that were
Sandy beaches, smiling faces, ahh, look at all those pretty girls
But it's time to batten hatches, and stock the firewood inside
And get ready, for another round, of snowy frozen nights

When I realize, and know for sure, that winter's on its way
I'll think of all the beauty, that comes from each and every day
