Alonzo "Lonnie" Johnson (February 8, 1899 – June 16, 1970) was an American blues and jazz singer/guitarist and songwriter who pioneered the role of jazz guitar and is recognized as the first to play single-string guitar solos. I once loved a woman, better than any woman I've ever seen.
I once loved a woman, better than any woman I've ever seen.
What made me love her, she treated me just like a king.

I left my home, thinking that she may be my wife.
I left my home, thinking she may be my wife.
Now she have drug me ‘round, now I've throwed me outside.

I'm leaving people, please don't spread the news.
I'm leavin' people, please don't spread the news.
‘Cause everything I tell you ‘bout love, it is bound to come true.

Someday, when you change your ways.
Someday, when you change your ways.
There will be difference in love if it is midnight and day.
