Alonzo "Lonnie" Johnson (February 8, 1899 – June 16, 1970) was an American blues and jazz singer/guitarist and songwriter who pioneered the role of jazz guitar and is recognized as the first to play single-string guitar solos. I used to be happy, but I would not let that do.
I used to be happy, but I wouldn't let that do.
I used to be happy, I would not let that do.
I've got no sweet woman to tell my troubles to.
I'm all alone baby, so are you.

I used to go out from my baby, I would stay all night long.
I used to go out from my baby, I would stay the whole night long.
I used to go out from my baby, I would stay all night long.
Now someone has got my baby and gone.
Now I'm all alone, I mean I'm all alone.

There is nothing like a good woman in a happy home.
There is nothing like a good woman in a happy home.
There is nothing to worry ‘bout, you don't have to be all alone.
