The moon is the same moon above you
Aglow with it's cool evening light
But shining at night, in tunisia
Never does it shine so bright

The stars are aglow in the heavens
But only the wise understand
That shining at night in tunisia
They guide you through the desert sand

Words fail, to tell a tale
Too exotic to be told
Each night's a deeper night
In a world, ages old

The cares of the day seem to vanish
The ending of day brings release
Each wonderful night in tunisia
Where the nights are filled with peace

(bridge)
(scat)

{repeat all twice}
(scat)
Each wonderful night in tunisia

Thanks very much for decoding these extra lyrics, Richard.

Re the line "Nightly after the falls from the heat of the day": I think I hear: "Like the air through the palms from the heat of the day"

I'm also not sure about : "Stars in the sky like to travel that way". I hear: "Stars in the sky light the caravan's way" (but I'm less sure about that. Do desert caravans travel in the dark?).

Final comment to those I have posted previously. The lyrics posted at this website and elsewhere on the web are not the full version of John Hendricks' "Night in Tunisia" lyrics on The Hottest New Group in Jazz Compilation CD which includes both the original group performance with Annie Ross singing lead and the alternate version with Jon Hendricks singing lead. My final edit is:

The moon is the same moon above you
Aglow with the cool evening light
But shining at night in Tunisia
Never does it shine so bright

The stars are aglow in the heavens
    But only the wise understand
That shining at night in Tunisia
They guide you through the desert sand

Words fail to tell a tale
    Too exotic to be told
    Each night's a deeper night
    In a world ages old

The cares of the day seem to vanish
The ending of day brings release
    Each wonderful night in Tunisia
Where the nights are filled with peace

Nightly after the falls from the heat of the day
Stars in the sky like to travel that way
Cool evening breeze blowing over the dune
Bathed in the light of a magical moon
Skies are aglow with a million delights
There in the land full of fabulous sights
    At night

    [instrumental solo]

Hot breeze blowin' over the land
Hot breeze flowin' over the sand
Nightly clouds appear in the skies
Brightly shining down from our eyes

Words fail to tell a tale
    Too exotic to be told
    Each night's a deeper night
    In a world ages old

The cares of the day seem to vanish
The ending of day brings release
    Each wonderful night in Tunisia
Where the nights are filled with peace

This is a reply to my earlier comment regarding the long version of Jon Hendricks' lyrics which I'm posting as a separate comment rather than as a reply:

A friend on Facebook helped me hear the following for the hard-to-understand three-beat lyric in the long version of Hendricks' lyrics changing the first word from "Lightly" to "Nightly":

"Nightly after the falls from the heat of the day"

And here's a link to LHR singing the laternate version with Jon Hendricks singing lead instead of Annie.

I had the great chance to be the opening act for Jon Hendricks - back in 1999 where I sang at a nightclub
in San Francisco - and after a chat, I HAD to ask him about the additional lyrics I KNEW I did not have right. He laughed as he spoke them and I wrote them down. He was very kind about it, and we sang it together. I lost the piece of paper
somehow, but I JUST found it in a disregarded scrapbook, and after many years of getting them wrong I finally sing his great lyrics!! I wanted to share them with you all. Here they are:
Interlude: Nightly after the pause from the heat of the dayStars in the sky light the caravans’ wayCool evening breeze blowing over the duneBathed in the light of a magical moonNights are a-glow with a million delightsThere in the land full of fabulous sights - At Night(Solos)(reprise of Verses 1 & 2, before coming back into the bridge)Palm Trees — flowin’ over the landHot Breeze — blowin’ over the sandNightly — clouds appear in the skyBrightly — shining down from on High
