Hammer

The Wailers

About Hammer

"Hammer" is a song by Bob Marley. It was first recorded early in Marley's career (probably 1968) but never appeared on the Bob Marley & The Wailers studio albums in the seventies. JAD Records ultimately released remastered versions of the early studio sessions of Bob Marley & Wailers; "Hammer" is included on Fy-ah, Fy-ah and a Sly and Robbie remix of the song is included on Man To Man. A version of the song also appears on the box-set Songs of Freedom. The song was covered by Sublime.

They just keep holdin' me
Won't let go
Holdin' me
Won't let go

I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down
I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To ram them down

They just keep teasin' me
And, you know, they play like they don't know
Provokin' me
But this is all I know

I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To ram them down
I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down

Wee, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Oh, I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To rama thema down
Oh, I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down

Said, I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To rama them down
I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down

Holdin' me
Won't let go
Holdin' me
Won't let go

I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To rama them down
I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down (I need a rammer)

I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down
I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To ram them down

I need a hammer, a hammer, a hammer, a hammer
To hammer them down
I need a rammer, a rammer, a rammer, a rammer
To ram them down

Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more albums. Marley d… more »
