Death from Above 1979

About Romantic Rights

"Romantic Rights" is the first single from Death from Above 1979's debut album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine. Released in 2004, it reached number 57 on the UK Singles Chart. Prior to the band's first name change, a self-titled extended play was released on April 13, 2004, consisting of four songs. The song plays as the intro to, and throughout, the MTV show Human Giant. The duo also performed the song on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, joined by Max Weinberg mid-song. The song appears on the soundtrack for video games SSX On Tour and NBA 2K15, the latter which was curated by music producer Pharrell Williams. The band played "Romantic Rights" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, with Grainger drumming for the first half of the performance and Late Night's Max Weinberg on the same drum set for the second.

Your romantic rights are all that you got
Push 'em down son it's more than just lip.
C'mon girls I know you know what you want
C'mon, c'mon now and give 'em all (shhhhh)
You're beating walls now you just won't quit
You play with shapes but they just won't fit.
I know you love me you don't know what you like
You're watching TV I stay up all night.

I don't need you, I want you
I don't need you, I want you

South carolina kid is heating things up
His wounds are bleeding and we're filling the cup.
This game will save us if we don't die young
C'mon, c'mon girl and have some fun.
Come here baby I love your company
We could do it and start a family.
She was living alone unhappily

We could do it, it's right romantically.
We could do it, it's right romantically.
We could do it, it's right romantically.

I don't need you, I want you
I don't need you, I want you

I don't need you, I want you
I don't need you, I want you
I don't need you, I want you
I don't need you, I want you
