Simon Joyner

Simon Joyner (born 1971) is a singer-songwriter from Omaha, Nebraska, United States. Considered by some[citation needed] to be the forefather of the burgeoning Omaha music scene[citation needed], he has profoundly influenced the music of Bright Eyes. Joyner also collaborated with John Darnielle, of The Mountain Goats, and Beck listed Joyner in his top 10 albums when asked by Rolling Stone. He is also famous for the so called "Peel Incident," when famous British DJ John Peel played his album The Cowardly Traveller Pays His Toll from beginning to end on air. You know you can’t cage what won’t cease moving
but if you want to touch her once, present a shore

Her tears taste just like the ocean
I know I’ve trembled to their touch
She says that life is made of struggles
and the dead just didn’t struggle quite enough

I like to lie down on the ocean
and clear the city from my lungs
Sometimes it rains while I’m drifting
but then I’m dried off by the sun

Some men believe that they are giants,
they stomp their feet upon the ground
but if they came across an ocean
they wouldn’t feel like giants very long

I know my arms are only sails
and my boat is small and made of bone
I can’t pretend that I am fearless
as I wait for the wind to come

I like to lie down on the ocean
