"The Greatest View" is a song by the Australian rock band Silverchair. It was released in 2002 as the first single from their fourth album, Diorama. A video was made in which the band plays in hotel room representing Daniel Johns' inner space which spies try to investigate and listen in on. At the end of the video, the whole hotel lifts up into the air playing on the words 'greatest view'. This is one of three songs which made it onto the album (the other two being "World Upon Your Shoulders" and "Too Much of Not Enough") which Johns recorded using his Rickenbacker 12 string. Before 2007, the song never charted in America. It then peaked at #36 on the Modern Rock Tracks, due to an EP being released by Warner Bros. Records (possibly to cash in on the success of "Straight Lines" on alternative radio or because of the experimental nature of "If You Keep Losing Sleep"). Music Choice lists this song as being a part of Silverchair's 2007 album Young Modern. It was later used in the Sci Fi Channel promos of The Sarah Jane Adventures. more »

Silverchair

Silverchair were an Australian rock band, which formed in 1992 as Innocent Criminals in Merewether, Newcastle with the line-up of Ben Gillies on drums, Chris Joannou on bass guitar and Daniel Johns on vocals and guitars. The group got their big break in mid-1994 when they won a national demo competition conducted by SBS TV show Nomad and ABC radio station, Triple J. The band were signed by Murmur, and were successful on the Australian and international rock stages. more »
