Although the song was his first release since American Idol, it was not his official debut single. Instead, the title track to his album, For Your Entertainment, was released. The song is featured as the ending theme in the 2009 disaster film 2012, and is included on the film's soundtrack. A full version of the song was released on October 17, 2009 via YouTube, and on October 20, 2009 via digital download. The song was written by Alain Johannes and his partner Natasha Shneider, who were probably best known for contributing to several Queens of the Stone Age albums.
